In natural surroundings, both peaceful and discreet, the roads lead you to two extraordinary denouements: The 43rd Regional Nature Park of France named ‘Pyrénée Catalanes’, with the majestic Mont Canigou (2784m), and the medieval village Vernet-les-Bains (Station Climatérique) with our small and charming stone house named ‘Maison OMAN’, just in the heart of this massif”. Vernet-les-Bains is a wonderful quaint village, where you will feel at home due to storekeepers and restaurateurs generous hospitality. You will be pleasantly surprised to find a daily English or German newspaper available at the bookstore.
There are two natural hot springs public swimming pools in Vernet-les-Bains, one indoors for the winter season and one outdoor pool open during the summer. The Mediterranean beaches are about 45 min. away. The famous thermal bath (5 min. walk from „OMAN“) also has a natural hot water pool, and other recreational facilities like sauna, jacuzzi, hamam, and a small fitness center. Maison ‘Oman’ is well suited for four persons. The house is part of a unique architectural construction consisting of 12 individual cluster houses named ‘Le Village Catalan’. ‘House ‘Oman’, being very comfortably equipped with modern and traditional Catalan furniture, has two terraces from where you can enjoy the most spectacular scenery and a stunning panorama view of the Pyrenees and Vernet-les-Bains. Inside, ‘Oman’ has nicely decorated stonewalls. Upstairs there is a well-equipped, new Catalan kitchen (style Louis XII), a Catalan dining alcove and a sitting room with an open fireplace, stereo-radio, CD/DVD-player and satellite television (ASTRA). Downstairs you will find a bathroom with bidet and two separate bedrooms with exits to a small patio (sun-garden).
The area in and around Vernet-les-Bains is undisputed one of the best trekking areas in Europe, and the tracks start just behind Maison Oman. Seasoned hikers or families with children all will appreciate the softness yet wildness of the mountains or the countryside, natural and wonderful, on the various marked trails.
Since 1992, Vernet-les-Bains has carried the title of “Village Arboretum”, “Village Fleurie” and in June 2000 the village was awarded “Station Verte de Vacances” - green holiday village. Welcome indeed! |
